The clamp for the Wicked Edge Obsidian WAS the reason I bought it and now ALSO is the reason I bought the brand new Worksharp (because the clamp is was such a major freaking depression inducing LETDOWN. The Obsidian really let me down when it came to the clamp. The New Worksharp and the Wicked Edge Obsidian both produce flawless appearing edges. It’s by far the best clamp style sharpener for the price PERIOD. The New Precision adjust pro I just bought the other day is great as well. The Worksharp stones are great but I do tend to feel that they’re not up for doing multiple edge regrind a often. If you’re going to do major reworking to the factory edge then a Wicked Edge Gen 3 or the Obsidan but I’ve got even more opinions about the Onaisian since my reply. I have many opinions and possible insights about it. If you don’t own a Precision Adjust and have questions or even if you own one feel free to ask. If that’s too much I think the Updated Wicked Edge Go is a great one to get if price is a major issue. I think the Obsidian is going to turn out to be the best one yet from wicked edge. All the complaints I’ve heard from WickedEdge owners seems to be jaw related (won’t keep the knife in place, doesn’t do full flat grinds well, ect). The Obsidian seems to have the best set of clamping jaws yet. Also if you’re an OTF owner this sharpener (worksharp) I believe is NOT for you. I feel the precision adjust just isn’t up to heavy duty use and it’s just not the best design if you’re anal about your edge angle and symmetry. This wouldn’t be a problem but the knives I’m sharpening are getting more and more expensive and I’m getting a lot of request from guys at work to repair or at least sharpen their blades. I feel that I have exceeded the abilities of the sharpener even after upgrades and tweaking my technique. I have a worksharp Precision Adjust and it’s great for most knife owners I imagine.
